Another breakfasting recommendation at a 5 star hotel this month, it's Arts Cafe at Raffles Hotel Jakarta! Glad that we came back again this year to try their Turkish Ramadan festive (buffet) with two International Chefs in town: Chef Umut Tabak and Chef Bilal Keser from Raffles Instabul. It's pretty common for a 5 star hotel to bring International Chefs from the same (hotel) group/brand, especially when it comes to a special holy season like Chinese New Year, Ramadan, and Christmas. Without further a due, let's have a look at the food selections!
Every customer will be served with sweetened Turkish tea and water. So, worry not for you drinks, it's included on the buffet rate.
The room was decorated with Arabian or Middle Eastern style interior. Btw, this is located on the second floor of Raffles Hotel Jakarta, just above the original Arts Cafe on the first floor. Basically this is an empty hall modified into a Middle Eastern themed restaurant just to celebrate the holy season of Ramadan.
Here was the famous Turkish Ice Cream, expect to experience "The Turkish Ice Cream Show" when you ask for some ice cream. You know they guy will play a few minutes of game with you before he finally serves you the ice cream.
The Baklava was so Good, it was nicely sweet and crispy. This is definitely not to be missed!
These were some other desserts that we captured.
This is the grilling station: chicken and lamb skewer. The meat was so thick yet very juicy. But for those who don't usually eat lamb, this was unfortunately having that intense lamb smells.
These were a few Turkish dishes that we captured. Well to be frankly speaking, we were not quite familiar with the dishes. We did try some, but unfortunately most of them were not pretty favorable to our taste buds. It's not that bad actually, it's just that we were not used to these kind of cuisines. Probably because we are used to food that is salty and savory.
Their shawarma or kebab was pretty good. The chicken was moist and sweet, though we expected the wrap to be slightly thinner. But this one is on our MUST TRY dish here.
This beef dish was amazing, the meat was super tender and juicy and was expected to be eaten with their serundeng crumble. Because the meat itself was bland which was why you have to have it with their sweet serundeng.
