Staycation at The Grand Club Room of Grand Hyatt Jakarta

Shall we say the best hotel we've ever stayed in Jakarta? Well, undoubtedly YES! At least that is for us cause we rarely stay in a hotel  in Jakarta unless for a review purpose! Earlier on April 2019, we stayed at The Grand Hyatt Jakarta, one of the most iconic 5 star hotels around Bundaran Hotel Indonesia aka the Welcoming Statue Roundabout. It's located at the very center of Jakarta with the most beautiful outdoor water fountain in town. We stayed at their Grand Club room which is the room with a complimentary access to their Club room (unlimited refreshment such as snacks and drinks). We also reviewed their signature C's Steak and Seafood restaurant for dinner, The Grand Cafe for Sunday Brunch and Fountain Lounge for afternoon tea.  Let's check out our review.

UPDATED:: Latest Staycation in September 2020 during Covid-19 Pandemic

This is our 50 square meter Grand Club room with a stunning view of Bundaran HI.
The Grand Club room has a personal seated check in at the 22nd floor where the Club room is located. We were welcomed with two welcome drinks: juices, teas or coffees. Upon check in to our room, we were surprised with a red box of in-house praline chocolate and a set of baby bath products. Our requested baby crib was also prepared prior to our arrival. So, everything had been planned thoroughly by the team, Bravo!
The room size is 50 sqm, the same size as their standard room. It's pretty spacious though, considering it's located at the most premium location anywhere in Jakarta! The window's view is amazing, probably the only 3 hotels in Jakarta with a straight Bundaran HI view from the room. The rests are Kempinski Jakarta and Mandarian Oriental. Well, actually Pullman Thamrin Hotel is located at the exact same location, however its position is slightly blocked by another building: Wisma Nusantara. So, the best view from the room is around 45 degrees from the window. Correct me if I'm wrong :)
There's a cupboard with water heater, tea and coffee set, and pre-loaded mini bar. The mini bar was not complimentary, which was somehow a little bit confusing for us because we could take anything (soft drinks, juices, tea, coffee) from the club room. But why not from our mini bar which was supposed to be the same right? But anyway, that's not a big deal, cause they provide 8 complimentary bottled water in our room. Plus, you can request some more if you want to :)

Baby was excited for the complimentary baby bath set with a monkey toy! Thank you so much, Grand Hyatt!
Our bath room is not the spacious one, but definitely more than enough to shower and relax. And there's a bathtub as well!
Welcome to the Club Room, a place where you can have your unlimited refreshment throughout the day from water, juices, tea, coffee, snacks, pastries, sandwich to even cocktails (6 - 8 PM). This facility is complimentary to those who book a Grand Club Room at Grand Hyatt Jakarta. The club room is designed as a refreshment and relaxing area on the 22nd floor (just one level above our room).

The city view (Sudirman street) from our seats.
This window's seating area was our favorite feature of the room! It's a very rare one around the area, I mean sitting on the window side with a metro city traffic view is something awesome (especially for a foreign tourist).
Some afternoon snacks and tea while relaxing on the window seat. Oh btw, that's the complimentary cup cakes and chocolates. THANK YOU :)
Tea Time! We're having some afternoon tea (buffet) at their famous Fountain Lounge on the mezzanine lobby floor. Basically, we got to enjoy anything on the buffet table, from simple pastries, cakes, Indonesian traditional snacks, to Gelato & Sorbet.
The opposite view from the lounge which is the main lobby (check in area). Don't you think it was very well designed?
The window's view from our table is the Pullman Thamrin Hotel, while a little further away is the Bundaran HI. Love watching the traffic from our position, especially knowing that there's a new Trans Jakarta station & MRT station down on the pedestrian.
The buffet afternoon tea includes two cups of hot tea.
Right after our afternoon tea, we continued our food madness at C's Steak & Seafood for dinner (just across the Fountain Lounge). It was one of the best dining experiences we had this year with the most amazing dishes. From the gigantic Seafood Plater to the mouthwatering T-Bone Steak! We decided to make a separate blog post for this restaurant on our blog. CLICK HERE TO READ THE REVIEW
In room breakfast is always enjoyable and even more comfortable. Though you don't get that much options compared to the buffet one, you simply need no preparation to walk in to the breakfast dining area (no make up on for female right?). We had some pastries, fried rice, American style breakfast (sausage, scrambled egg), fruit platters, juices, tea and coffee. That sounds somewhat little, but we actually couldn't finish them all. The fried rice was delicious though, especially when having it on our window's seat with the beautiful Car Free Day view (it was sunday on our second day). If you're reading this and you're not familiar with Car Free Day in Jakarta, basically every Sunday morning 6 - 11 AM, the main MH Thamrin and Sudirman street are closed from any public transportation except for the Trans Jakarta Bus.
Later after breakfast, we went to their beautiful outdoor swimming pool area and had some fun with our baby. The outdoor pool in the 5th floor was somehow bringing us to tropical island with its natural garden. Baby Louisa enjoyed the pool that much (and any other pool which hotel's we had ever stayed in) even when she couldn't swim.
They also have this shallow kid's pool (probably only 0.5 meter)
Since it's Sunday lunch time, it's perfect to spend it at The Grand Cafe for their famous Sunday Brunch! It's the only buffet restaurant in a 5 star hotel in Jakarta with a "House" interior concept where you can see the kitchen, the living room, the balcony to the reading room.

Our personal favorite and also the signature dish at The Grand Cafe is their oxtail soup. It reminds us of our mom's homemade beef soup, but with super tender oxtail. The chicken satay was delicious, the salmon sashimi was fresh, the siomay with peanut sauce was just as good as how you expect from a tasty streetfood style siomay. The roast beef, grilled chicken and the fried rice were unfortunately bland.
On Sunday, they had this pop up children playground where your kids could enjoy a few fun activities.
Anyway, that is pretty much everything from our staycation experience. Fiuhhhh what a very long review, isn't it? From personal check in, breakfast, dinner, afternoon tea, club room, pool area to sunday brunch. We truly had the best staycation ever. Thank you guys for reading and don't forget to share it with your friends and family :)
