AW KITCHEN - Plaza Indonesia

We were invited for a food tasting at AW Kitchen on 12 August 2016 and we were very excited actually as we never tried their food before :p We've heard their name for quite a while now and much of the talks out there raised our curiosity about their high rated dishes. All of the menus that we tried were Pastas anyway, so lets get started!

They serve you bread and butter for complimentary appetizer, I loved the butter it was saltier than the normally served butter elsewhere :) Then we ordered some mocktails like below. I forgot the name :p

CAPELLINI SAMPLER

As an appetizer, we tried two different capellini menus:
(The price below is based on the normal portion menu)

1. Tiger Prawn Capellini with Gazpacho Sauce - IDR 198.000. I wasn't quite familiar with the name Gazpacho and in fact it was our first time heard that term. If I have to be very honest with this dish, it wasn't good at all. The sauce was soury like asinan bogor if we can describe it, but we didn't taste any sweet or salty. This was served cold because it is a cold pasta menu.

2. Japanese Mushroom Capellini with Japanese Radish Sauce - IDR 90.000. This second one was slightly better but still not good, I'm sorry. The mushroom flavor was too strong that it was more to stink than smelly good. It is also a cold pasta menu served with mushroom, unfortunately the radish sauce was not great together with the pasta.

You may experience different flavor on your visit. Hopefully, they can improve on the seasonings and the ingredients combination.

TROFFIE ARRABBIATA - IDR 85.000

We call this pasta cendol because it looks exactly like cendol. I've seen the making process of cendol, so I can imagine how this pasta is made. The texture was slightly firmer, I call it slightly undercooked but some others may like this firmness. The dish is basically tomato based sauce pasta with cherry tomatoes, eggplant and beef bacon or bacon. The flavor was okay for me.

NERO SPAGHETTINI WITH IKURA - IDR 135.000

The second pasta dish is a cream and cheese based sauce black squid ink spaghetti with salmon roe, green asparagus. This one was good, but it wasn't really stood out. I guess you can expect how it tastes like from the picture :)

MALTAGLIATI WITH CHICKEN - IDR 80.000

Another tomato based sauce pasta, this is a thin pasta served with some sliced chicken breast. You can see the snowy cheese on the surface of the dish. Flavor wise, it was similar to TROFFIE ARRABBIATA.

GARGANELLI VEAL RAGOUT - IDR 125.000

Garganelli is a kind pasta similar to penne but with worm alike shape. It is cooked with milky and creamy ingredients combined with horenso spinach and chopped veal ragout. The dish looks like a creamy pasta but it was actually different because the white sauce was kinda soupy. But you can clearly smell Truffle here and anything with truffle here will always end up a great dish.

GNOCCHI POMODORO MOZARELLA - IDR 85.000

A lot of people in Indonesia don't familiar with Gnocchi and most of them spell it literally 'Gnoci'. While the correct spelling is actually 'ngiyoki'. Its a thick round pasta with a slightly chewy texture. This dish is actually similar to the previous tomato based sauce pasta with some sprinkled boconcini cheese. It was fine :)

MIXED APPETIZER - IDR 68.000

A combination of three different desserts:
Profiterole aka Kue Soes: Cream filled puff.
- Japanese mocha pudding: a soft and smooth chocolaty pudding
- Crema catalana: a creamy and buttery desserts similar to creme brulee.

I personally love Crema Catalana, it was sweet, smooth and heavenly good.
