ZHUMA JAPANESE - Cilandak Town Square

[RESTAURANT REVIEW] First of all, congratulation for the opening of the 3rd Outlet of Zhuma Japanese Restaurant in Cilandak Town Square. Frankly, one of just a few Japanese restaurants in Citos as what I saw when I visited there. The new Zhuma offers a consistent great food and unique interior decoration, which make it a comfortable place to dine in. I'm not really familiar with Citos as it is a actually out of my current hang out area. But, I was quite surprised when I visited there because there are a lot of new things for me.

ZHUMA itself is an authentic Japanese restaurant offering modern Japanese cuisine from Sushi, Sashimi, Udon, Ramen to Fish and Steak. I browsed the menu book for a while and I found the price is quite reasonable, not that high compared to many Japanese restaurants out there. And the taste is actually has been adjusted to Indonesian's consumers. So, for me who is not a Sushi & Sashimi Fan, I can actually try a whole lot different kinds of menus here. They were opening the store on late April 2016, and I got the chance to try some of their best selling menu on 4th June 2016.

The Sushi Bar

ZHUMA SALAD - IDR 50.000

To start your meal, why don't you try this light salad appetizer. A fresh shredded iceberg lettuce tossed with creamy homemade dressing, Crabstick, crispy salmon skin, and Tobiko on the top.

ZHUMA BEEF ROLLS - IDR 55.000

This is one of my favorite appetizer, judging from the look, it is so mouthwatering! This is superb Australian Beef Rolls filled with Shitake mushroom, topped with mayo sauce and Tobiko. The beef was super smooth and when you bite it, you can definitely taste the strong flavor of the Shitake.

SOFT SHELL CRAB & UNAGI ROLLS - IDR 90.000

This is pretty generous in size for an appetizer. The combination of Soft Shell Crab, Tobiko, Cucumber and Iceberg Lettuce topped with Unagi. The perfect appetizer to start with.

SPICY SAKE CARPOCIO

Last but not the least, its Salmon! Basically this is fresh thinly sliced Salmon and Japanese wild mushrooms glazed with Zhuma homemade spicy and creamy sauce. It was sort of spicy mayo sauce.

GYU AMIYAKI - IDR 140.000

Starting off my first main course with this superb Grilled Aussie beef steak. This is one of the most tender steak I've ever had! Imagine having raw Salmon on your mouth as the texture is pretty similar. I truly enjoyed chewing this because it's just effortlessly melting in my mouth. This menu comes with crispy garlic and sauteed Japanese bean sprout

FURIKAKE CRUSTED GINDARA UDON - IDR 90.000

I am a true fan of any noodle based food: chinese noodle, bakmie, ramen, udon, pasta, you name it! This one is definitely unique as the Udon was tossed with fresh spinach and lobster butter. That butter makes it creamier and 'Shrimpy-er' as the aroma of Shrimp-like from the lobster was pretty strong. I personally found it a little bit 'Fishy' (Amis udang), but my wife in contrary loves it! This menu comes with Furikake crusted Gindara fish which is Gindara covered with 'Furikake' ~ dry Japanese seasonings.

GRILLED SALMON PISTACIO

I guess the name explains it all. Grilled Salmon with Pistacio sauce. The Salmon was cooked perfectly, very moist and not fishy at all.

PANDANUSE INFUSED LEMONADE

So, the first reaction when I sipped this was a carbonated (soda) drink. Well, this is actually Pandan leaves essence probably by boiling the leaves with water, then mixed with Lemon juice and sprite. Very thirst quenching and refreshing!

PEACH & ORANGE SMOOTHIES

The title also explains this drink. Very refreshing combination of Peach and Orange juice, sweet and sour. Another recommendation!

CHOCOLATE MELT - IDR 45.000

Don't everr miss this dessert! Chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. The lava cake was melting perfectly when sliced. I quite often found some restaurants serving failed Lava Cake as the chocolate didn't melt (overcooked). But, this one by Zhuma was simply perfect, super smooth and moist cake, perfect melting chocolate and great combined with chilled vanilla ice cream. And the price is certainly more affordable than many others!

SHIRATAMA

LAST but not the least, Japanese Mochi with red bean sauce and homemade vanila ice cream. Its just the perfect dessert to end the whole meal. The ice cream was great, the red bean was sweet, the mochi was fluffy! Everything melts together in your mouth, super yummm.
