ST ALI COFFEE ROASTERS - South Melbourne

We've never been to St Ali in Jakarta and its pretty sad that we were not invited on their opening day #curcol. It was a big hype early on the opening weeks where a lot of people came there to try their coffee and brunch menus. We planned to visit there actually but in many times we couldn't make it. Luckyly, we got the chance to visit their original store in South Melboure during our trip in Melbourne!

We stayed in Melbourne CBD (near Flinders station) and it took like probably 40 - 50 minutes walking distance to the destination because it was located in South Melbourne. It was not a tourist destination actually, but we really wanted to go there.

It was really crowded inside by the time we arrived there. St Ali is quite big in Melbourne and we sometimes saw their coffee beans being used in a few other places in Melbourne, just like for example Common Ground or Tanamera coffee used in many other restaurants in Jakarta. Many customers there also opted to take away the coffee, so they didn't queue for the table, instead they queue for the coffee :)

CAPPUCCINO - A$4.5 / IDR 45.000

Price here is relatively higher than most coffee shops in Sydney or Australia. Their Cappucino is the most expensive one from all the coffee shops that we visited in Australia. Taste wise, it wasn't bad at all, its pretty good just like many other Cappucinno that we tried in Australia. No complaint about the coffee.

SMOKING PIG - A$24.5 / IDR 245.000

The price here was kinda silly for me, its just overpriced! This is roasted smoked Kaiserfleisch steak with cauliflower puree, fried duck egg with balsamic juice, and golden elk --> not sure what this was. I was expecting to get more from $24.5 for the brunch menus, but well I was quite disappointed. Its just too simple and small. The steak was unique actually, the texture was kinda chewy and the taste was salty because it's smoked. The egg was fine.

Anyway, just outside of the shop, you can find this beautiful graffiti :)
